The countdown is starting

We got the last documents apostilled today and just to put an exclamation point on that, our visas came. This is SO much better than week before last when every day brought another thing that WASN'T done. I think that the main thing we have to do now is pack...and clean house for the company that will be here when we get back...and buy our daughter some food (do you think it would impress the officials if we had absolutely nothing for her to eat?). Never mind, I won't be brought down - with our passports, visas, tickets and paperwork, WE CAN GO GET OUR DAUGHTER. Anything else we can get there if we have to.

Yesterday, my co-workers gave us a shower. It was overwhelming. The clothes, toys, a jogging stroller, several handmade gifts (the good heirloom kind), books...I think we are set (except for that food thing...oh yeah and bottles...how could I have forgotten to ever buy bottles??). The only questionable gift we got was a Di*per G*nie. I've heard pretty mixed reviews on whether they're useful or worth it so we hadn't put it on our registry but now we have one...with a gift receipt. What do you guys think??? Do you have one?...use it?...recommend it?

Oh yeah - if by chance we get home and realize that she's lacking anything, her birthday's only a week away. Tell me this - when we've just given her a new home, new family, new country, new name, new room, all new toys and clothes and even a puppy...WHAT DO YOU GET HER FOR A BIRTHDAY PRESENT???

Fiddle-dee-dee, I'll worry about that tomorrow. For now, I've gotta go pack something or check a list!

You give her the best cake ever, family, hugs and kisses.

Glad everything is coming together. You'll be there before you know it.

To save on some packing, you can buy baby food in your Region. There's a real nice grocery store right near your hotel that our coordinator took us too. Big variety!

Good luck and hope everything goes smoothly!!

How wonderful that your work colleagues threw you a shower! Sounds like they've got you pretty much covered.

Rhyne and Jake gave some great advice about buying baby food in the region. That will definitely reduce the packing.

Best of luck to you!

Congrats on your upcoming court date. Maybe we will overlap while we are in Moscow. I am hoping to go this month sometime. What region are you adopting from again? How old is your little girl?

I agree with buying the food in region. It's much easier. Btw, we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our Diaper Gene. We got the Diaper Gene II. We cannot smell his diapers AT ALL!! Love it!!!!

Yep, the Diaper Genie II is what we have also and we love love love it too! Can't smell a thing and there are tons of poopy diapers in that thing. It really holds a lot. Definitely a must have! Good luck on your trip.

A big thumbs up for the Diaper Genie. Ours lasted through 3 kids...and I don't think we could have lasted without it. Couldn't detect any stinky diaper smells in the kids rooms. I'm not sure if it'll survive the fourth one we're hoping to bring home soon. I may need to invest in a new one!
